Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems within a food manufacturing environment. This position performs both preventive and reactive maintenance to minimize downtime and support safe, efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, buildings, and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
- Fabricate, modify, and improve equipment to support production needs.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed.
- Work closely with production, maintenance engineers, and team leaders to communicate equipment status and repair progress.
- Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement efforts.
- Follow all company safety, sanitation, food safety, and maintenance procedures.
- Complete additional maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous industrial maintenance experience or technical training from an accredited trade/technical school.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Candidates will complete a maintenance assessment during the interview process</strong>; the assessment is not pass/fail.
Preferred Experience
- Previous food manufacturing or food processing experience.
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience maintaining food processing and production equipment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, stand for extended periods, and climb stairs.
- Comfortable working in temperatures around 35–45°F or below.
- Ability to work around raw, chilled, processed, and ready-to-eat meat products.
- Must follow strict GMP, sanitation, PPE, and food safety requirements.
- Must be available for 8–12 hour shifts, weekends, and mandatory overtime based on production needs.
