THIS IS AN ONSITE ROLE

SALARY RANGE: $120K-$130K 

Director of Project Management

Position Summary

The Director of Project Management leads the organization’s project management strategy, governance, and execution. This role oversees the Project Management Department, ensures strategic initiatives align with business objectives, and drives the successful delivery of projects.

The Director establishes standardized processes, policies, reporting structures, and performance metrics to improve project execution, customer satisfaction, risk management, and return on investment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a project management strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead and evolve the structure, governance, and maturity of the Project Management Department.
  • Partner with executive leadership to prioritize projects and align the portfolio with corporate strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution and delivery performance.

Project & Portfolio Management

  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
  • Monitor overall portfolio health, including project risks, dependencies, and escalations.
  • Standardize project reporting and provide executive-level updates.
  • Implement tools and systems that improve project visibility, tracking, and accountability.

Process & Governance

  • Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for:
    • Project intake
    • Project prioritization
    • Team assignments
    • Project execution and reporting
  • Develop reporting dashboards and executive communication processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Develop and oversee project budgets and financial forecasting.
  • Manage and optimize resource capacity planning across departments.
  • Implement cost-control measures and maintain financial accountability.
  • Monitor project financial performance and return on investment.

Stakeholder Management

  • Provide regular project and portfolio updates to executive leadership and board-level stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicate project status, risks, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Facilitate collaboration and alignment across departments and functional teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Management Team Leads.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Lead workforce planning and ensure appropriate resources are available to support project demand.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related field</strong>; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive project/program management experience.
  • 5+ years in senior leadership or Project Management leadership.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multimillion-dollar projects.
  • Proven experience overseeing complex project portfolios, budgets, resources, and organizational priorities.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) – Project Management Institute
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP)
