Job description
The Maintenance Planning Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for tracking, reviewing, planning, and supporting the execution of maintenance mechanic work orders. This role supports asset reliability, maintenance projects, safety protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives to help improve equipment uptime and overall maintenance performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
· Lead, instruct, and assign daily work to maintenance staff.
· Foster a culture that does not tolerate recurring equipment failures by using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and other problem-solving methods to identify and eliminate causes.
· Track daily maintenance assignments, goals, and objectives.
· Ensure standard reliability and maintenance work processes are followed, implement and track maintenance KPIs.
· Demonstrate strong technical problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and proven project management experience while coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
· Review equipment downtime and overtime trends to identify opportunities for cost improvement.
· Document corrective actions related to completed preventive maintenance activities.
· Analyze operational data and equipment performance history to improve critical maintenance and asset reliability metrics/KPIs.
· Develop and lead reliability processes that continuously improve equipment uptime and reduce maintenance-related costs.
· Work with mechanics to ensure work orders and preventive maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner.
· Schedule mechanic time to best utilize line availability and match work assignments to mechanic skills and job requirements.
· Lead Health of Process (HOP) meetings to plan workarounds for production line equipment defects.
· Develop, recommend, and implement strategies to improve the reliability of manufacturing processes.
· Execute maintenance strategies to achieve Maintenance KPI’s of 90% or greater.
· Periodically benchmark current performance against internal and external sources to identify improvement opportunities and enforce Management of Change processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Planning Supervisor oversees the daily planned and unplanned work activities of Maintenance Mechanics.
This position is responsible for assigning work, providing direction, monitoring work order completion, ensuring safe work practices, maintaining 5S standards, and supporting compliance with company maintenance procedures and standards.
The supervisor also helps coach, train, and support mechanics to improve safety, equipment reliability, and overall maintenance performance.

· Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to lead small and large groups.
· Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
· Strong safety awareness while balancing the need to complete work efficiently.
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Proficient with CMMS and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
