Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Packaging Mechanic to join our team at a high-volume food manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing packaging equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency, product quality, and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on packaging equipment including fillers, sealers, labelers, conveyors, and palletizers
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues on packaging lines
- Minimize downtime by responding quickly to equipment failures and production issues
- Conduct line changeovers, adjustments, and setups to support production schedules
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
- Ensure all equipment operates in compliance with food safety standards (GMPs, HACCP)
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to improve line efficiency and performance
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement solutions
Qualifications
- 3+ years of maintenance experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment (required)
- Strong knowledge of packaging machinery and automated production lines
- Experience with mechanical systems, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting
- Familiarity with PLCs (troubleshooting is a plus, programming not required)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
- Understanding of GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
