Schedule: 1st Shift (6:00am–2:00pm), 2nd Shift (2:00pm–10:00pm), 3rd Shift (10:00pm–6:00am)
Days: Monday–Friday (Saturdays as needed)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Gilman, CT. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure continuous and efficient plant operations. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance (PM) on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.

Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions.

Locate issues by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, using precision measuring tools, and applying root cause analysis.

Dismantle defective equipment using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools; inspect and evaluate parts prior to replacement.

Inspect used parts to determine dimensional changes using calipers, micrometers, rules, and other precision instruments.

Adjust functional parts and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

Control downtime by informing production employees of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.

Fabricate or repair parts using shop tooling and equipment.

Maintain and update preventive maintenance records and work order information in CMMS.

Submit purchase requests for equipment, parts, and supplies as needed.

Properly complete daily maintenance reports and documentation.

Maintain technical knowledge through training, workshops, and review of technical publications.

Communicate effectively across shifts to maintain continuity of projects and repair work.

Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with company procedures and safety regulations.

Follow all health and safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.

Adhere to company Code of Conduct and safety policies.

Perform additional duties and assume increased responsibilities as required.
Experience / Knowledge Requirements
-
Proven work experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or Mechanical Technician in a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment.

Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
-
Experience with MIG and stick welding, fabrication, and basic plumbing.
-
Electrical troubleshooting knowledge including 120V, 240V, and 480V 3-phase systems (preferred).

Extrusion experience is a plus.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, work instructions, and safety data sheets.

Ability to initiate and complete work orders and purchase requisitions with accurate documentation.

Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Basic computer skills for CMMS entry, ordering supplies, and training modules.

Ability to operate industrial equipment including forklifts, man lifts, and other mobile equipment.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Ability to respond to emergency repairs, work overtime, and be flexible with off-shift coverage when required.
