SHIFT: 6AM-330PM

SALARY: $82K-$115K SALARY + $11K TARGET BONUS
 

Maintenance Engineer

Location: Suffolk, VA
Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM (weekend coverage as needed)

Position Overview

A large, well-established food manufacturing company is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support plant reliability, equipment performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for applying maintenance best practices, optimizing physical assets, and leading skilled maintenance technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make departmental decisions related to maintenance management and asset reliability

  • Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing equipment and production processes

  • Train, supervise, and provide technical direction to mechanics, electricians, plumbers, and other skilled trades

  • Provide sound technical and engineering recommendations to improve facility and equipment performance

  • Utilize a CMMS to manage work orders, preventive maintenance, and scheduling

  • Use CAD tools to gather information and design custom equipment modifications

  • Select and manage vendors for equipment purchases and services

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues

  • Install, commission, and start up new equipment and processes

  • Develop cost-reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives

  • Supervise and approve equipment design changes

  • Monitor and control plant energy usage

  • Research equipment alteration requests and provide justification

  • Negotiate, oversee, and manage contract maintenance work

  • Authorize, delegate, and follow up on maintenance work orders

  • Ensure safety, security, and regulatory compliance of plant facilities

  • Complete required administrative and reporting tasks

  • Communicate maintenance projects, priorities, and results with plant leadership

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Maintenance Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field

  • Strong technical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities

  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
