SALARY: $80K-$100K

Location: Worcester, MA (On-site)
Pay: $80,000 – $100,000/year
Job Type: Full-Time


Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cost Engineer to support quoting for new products and maintain accurate standard costs for existing products. This role analyzes material, labor, tooling, and equipment data to ensure precise cost forecasting. The Cost Engineer will partner closely with engineering, project management, procurement, and operations to drive cost optimization and support strategic planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate cost estimates using established methodologies and tools.

  • Identify cost uncertainties and incorporate risk into cost models.

  • Estimate production processes, tooling costs, and evaluate alternative solutions.

  • Track actual costs vs. estimates; report and adjust as needed.

  • Analyze monthly manufacturing variances and cost trends.

  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities and drive efficiency improvements.

  • Review technical documents, drawings, and vendor quotes to produce detailed estimates.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project and cost objectives.

  • Support continuous improvement and Lean project initiatives.

  • Use statistical tools to analyze production data and forecast trends.

  • Participate in special projects supporting operations and customer needs.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5–7 years of experience in cost engineering, estimating, or manufacturing operations.

  • Knowledge of metal stamping, heat treating, plating, welding, mechanical assembly, or CNC machining preferred.

  • Proficient with ERP systems (Syteline or similar), Excel, SolidWorks, Outlook, and MS Project.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
