Position Summary
Scale Tech. is responsible for the inspection, testing, calibration, and maintenance of industrial weigh scales. This role covers a range of scales from light industrial weighing (under 20 lbs) to heavy capacity systems (over 3000 lbs). The technician will work with electrical components and peripherals to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, calibrate, and maintain industrial weigh scales.
- Troubleshoot issues and resolve scale performance problems.
- Connect and wire peripherals, including remote displays, printers, and PLCs.
- Program indicators to control output signals and string displays.
- Utilize a variety of tools such as multi-meters, load cells, simulators, hand tools, electrical tools, soldering irons/guns, hack saws, grinders, and sanders.
- Wire scale indicators to peripherals using RS232, RS485, RS422, and 4-20Ma current loop protocols.
- Wire remote control systems and other RF devices.
- Maintain punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Basic computer skills.
- Good communication skills for report writing, including documenting device condition, accuracy testing results, start-up/shutdown reports, and checklists.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, though not required.
Physical Demands
- The role requires physical stamina to handle various tools and equipment.
- Ability to work with industrial equipment and possibly lift or maneuver materials as needed.
