LARGE MANUFACTURING COMPANY IN SUFFOLK VA IS LOOKING FOR A MAINTENANCE LEAD MECHANIC. LOOKING FOR SOMEONE SHARP ELECTRICALLY AND MECHANICALLY. MUST COME OUT OF A FAST PACED MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT.
MUST BE OPEN TO ALL 3 SHIFTS THIS IS A UNION FACILITY
HOURLY RATE: $39.65
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide leadership to maintenance team and assists production and maintenance supervisors
- Maintain and troubleshoot all production line equipment associated within the department to prevent and/or correct mechanical and electrical breakdown
- Cross train on all lines in department/area of responsibility
- Assist in line change over as needed or required by production schedule
- Consult with trade people to estimate timing and costs; obtains necessary approvals; ensures spare parts, in-stock material and other resources are available
- Keep backlog of jobs up-to-date, including the list of jobs to be performed
- Lead in establishing predictive maintenance initiatives for focused department
- Lead in enhancement of existing equipment to improve line effectiveness
- Lead efforts to develop/enhance PM’s & troubleshooting guides as assigned by supervisor for focused department
- Analyze and evaluate the scope of the job and sets priorities, establishes job sequences and resources necessary for the execution of the job
- Visits job site
- Develops Bill of Material (BOM)
- Estimates total work costs (parts and labor)
- Makes sketches/drawings as required
- Facilitates part requests from maintenance associates
- Improves efficiencies of planning functions
- Analyzes job performance measures for continued improvement
- Coordinate with mechanics, electricians, & line personnel across shifts maintenance efforts on assigned equipment
- Makes necessary changes to/updates all SAP activities such as PM task lists, new equipment and part updates/deletions, BOM’s, etc
- Develops downtime vs. line effectiveness reports
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with Engineering & Maintenance, supervisor, TLs and line operators on all shifts
- Assist supervision in the identification of operator skill gaps and provide possible solutions
- Implements and/or suggest modifications to procedures (DPS’s / OPL’s)
- Ensures new employees are trained properly in assigned areas and all other pertinent training is completed and documented
- May serve as main point of contact for department, i.e. programs, projects, teams
- Act as back up in the absence of the supervisor
- Support plant high performance culture and continuous improvement programs through active participation in QCDSM and plant productivity programs
- Comply and actively participate in all safety and environmental ORM policies, procedures and programs
- Comply with all QCMS program requirements including HACCP and GMPs
- Perform area housekeeping duties
- Perform all tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years relative maintenance related experience
- Basic mechanical as well as electrical background and basic competency in the use of Allen-Bradley PLC’s so that he/she is able to organize, plan, and schedule jobs appropriately
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems (SAP)
- Advanced education (certification or license) or equivalent maintenance experience to possess good technical literacy/comprehension
- Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills to communicate with all levels of management and plant personnel
- Good customer focus & understanding of QCMS philosophies to facilitate change and continuous improvement initiatives
- Good negotiation skills, influence, and persuasion skills
- Good analytical skills, able to apply problem-solving techniques, communicate effectively, demonstrate leadership, and plan effectively
- Good organizational skills to work under pressure and unsupervised prioritizing multiple tasks, as well as to prioritize and re-prioritize as business needs dictate
- Must have the ability to communicate technical information so as to improve the skills of the plant technicians
- Must have the ability and initiative to lead and participate in plant problem solving teams
- Must have knowledge of or be willing and able to train in maintenance systems, computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and SAP), lubricants and lubricating systems, and new technologies in predictive maintenance
- Must be able to understand line charts and standard cost for the department
- Must have and maintain a good attendance record
