Large manufacturing company in San Antonio TX is looking for a Senior HVAC Refrigeration Specialist
Pay Range: $40-$50/hr
Work Schedule: Day Shift approx: 6am-3:30pm with 2 days off per week (Tue/Wed or Wed/TH) while working Saturdays and Sundays.
Job Description: Senior Refrigeration Specialist
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Troubleshoots, repairs, and overhauls equipment such as condenser units, pumps, air handlers, heat exchangers, other environmental changing devices and other mechanical equipment.
Installs, maintains temperature control system, electric valves, heat transfer equipment, ventilation, and air distribution equipment. Installs and replaces all types of pumps or refrigeration equipment according to prints, specifications, diagrams, or other instructions.
Reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid pressure and distribution in systems.
Operates various refrigeration recovery equipment in compliance with EPA guidelines.
Solders with sil-fos and silver solder, layout, and fit piping.
Tests malfunctioning systems and components using electrical, mechanical, digital, and pneumatic controls.
Maintains air make up systems, chillers, evaporators and drain lines.
Orders parts and material for repairs and maintains refrigeration stock.
Performs planned maintenance, regular servicing, and repairs to refrigeration equipment of all types, sizes, and temperature ranges.
nitiate continuous improvement activities pertaining to facility power systems (refrigeration, steam, water).
Assist in the maintaining, installation, operation, and repair of boiler and pressure systems and all equipment incidental to these systems. Detect defects and assist in initiating repairs before major breakdowns occur.
Follow and enforce plant wide and equipment safety rules/procedures.
Maintains records of repairs or equipment requiring future service.
Coordinates work with maintenance planner.
Turns in Daily Activity Sheet and invoices.
Regular and reliable transportation and attendance.
Education and Experience
Completion of a two-year technical college degree program for industrial refrigeration maintenance or:
Minimum 2 years of experience in operation and maintenance in refrigeration with practical and demonstrated experience.
Must have working knowledge of Freon, boilers, compressors, motors, pumps, sheet metal, grease, oil and belt applications.
Be self-motivated and demonstrate skill, initiative and judgment to make decisions and communicate these decisions with departmental supervisory for approval.
Have basic knowledge of plant electrical AC/DC power and control systems associated with refrigeration equipment to provide support in equipment installation, trouble shooting and repair of refrigeration and boiler electrical components.
Demonstrated ability to perform precision welding meeting food plant sanitary standards using MIG wire-feed, and heli-arc on stainless steel applications. Be able to perform precision cutting using a plasma torch.
Be able to demonstrate the routine performance of preventative/proactive maintenance activities on all assigned equipment based on both technical manual and work order directed requirements. Properly submit and maintain required records as assigned.
Demonstrate basic knowledge for equipment technical manuals operating and safety procedures and periodic maintenance requirements.
Properly use CMMS program (MP2) for maintenance related activities, research, reference material, and work order completion.
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
tanding and walking for continuous periods, including 8–12-hour shifts or required necessary hours.
Ability to bend, lift and/or twist.
Ability to work on multiple levels, such as catwalks, ladders, etc. and ability to work in extreme temperatures
Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under stressful situations
Must be able to use a computer and associated software programs
Perform all tasks safely to ensure achievement of quality, service, and cost objectives.
Ability to read equipment operations manuals.
Ability to participate in job development training (i.e., troubleshooting, etc.)
