Direct Hire

“120 year old medium size privately held company specializing in custom rolling of aluminum coil – serving other industries – turning into something else, heavy thicknesses, as low as .005, high quality, width is done with slitting lines, heat treating, packaging equipment, conveyors, they build their own equipment and they look at improving, all equipment is maintained by Maintenance Manager (24/7 operation), 3 shift group, building and maintenance, environmental, and project management. There are techs, electricians, on day shift, 7 am – 3 pm with 4 electricians and 4 mechanics. Need to be Connecticut licensed with high aptitude. Need great leadership skills, good electrical and mechanical background, degree is useful but not required, willing to work, not a 9-5 job, manage a highly technical crew, need the right chemistry and ability to manage a group, win the respect of the group, someone who can lead and support the group. Don’t need to micro manage, but should hold the guys accountable. Heavy machinery and bearing issues, lubrication, hydraulic issues, they believe in PM's, if you see areas where breakdowns are likely to occur they want you to handle it ahead of time. Should have an understanding of machinery, heavy machinery experience preferred. They want someone who can contribute, they take care of their intellectual property so they need someone with good experience who can bring something to the table. 1000 horsepower motors, maintenance department works very closely with the engineering department.
n
n*120k plus OT and generous discretionary bonus, you can make a name for yourself, there are 15 altogether in the maintenance group. They have similarities to paper industry, printing, paper mills, major metal, other rolling companies (rolling and slitting). Project management includes (they build their own equipment and parts come in and it falls on the maintenance department to put the parts together, get all the auxiliary work together, running conduit, hydraulic, water lines together) putting various parts together and coordinating, PM's in working together with the production staff to coordinate. They have a mature environmental compliance program, it’s staying on top of federal and state requirements, requires a general knowledge. They have a compliance calendar. Should be good with mentoring, coaching, and training, they have a good young group.
n
nThis is not the environment for someone who can't diagnose problems and calls in outside consultants. You should have an understanding of sequential logic, when things need to be modified and determine if it can or can’t be done, no PLC programming skills required but troubleshooting knowledge is needed. Need someone with charisma and leadership skills, need heavy industrial manufacturing experience, not experience working with food or material handling/conveyors where the equipment just moves materials. They build everything from scratch with their machines, you’ll be over 15 people on 3 shifts, 7 am – 3 pm Mon – Sat, depending on what’s happening. Steel processing is good, plastic film or foil, paper, cardboard industries have similarities.
