Maintenance Supervisor. Target candidate is a leader with a track record of defining and achieving business goals through people leadership in a manufacturing operation, with demonstrated capabilities of deploying appropriate tools and methods to improve processes, developing people/teams, and planning, organization and execution of work performed.

Drive production/manufacturing results through ownership and accountability.Develop initiatives to achieve performance, quality, safety, and ensure the achievement of manufacturing goals.

Maximize productive capabilities while attaining operating cost and goals.Must have strategic vision and understand tactics necessary to achieve company goals.Develop and implement systems to improve production efficiencies that are sustainable and repeatable. Utilize this information to improve each process or system.

Challenges: Manage and implement change to ensure continuous improvement with clear and concise communication, both written and verbal; with the ability to constructively interact with others to resolve issues and improve the operation.

Manage people to ensure all are performing to expectations and optimizing their contributions.Develop workforce through supervision, coaching and training.Ensure all plans and strategies are effectively communicated throughout the department.Manage customer service and personnel issues.Assist in the selection of prospective new hire employees.Conduct scheduled meetings.Ensure plant is in compliance with all federal and state regulations along with company policy/procedures.Build upon experts. Develop associates to the “expert level” of their area of responsibility.Cross training of hourly associates to allow more flexibility in scheduling. Use the Maintenance department training matrix to maintain an accurate record of associates in need of training.Complete monthly safety evaluation of associates in training to keep all on track and aware of where they need to improve.Document expert knowledge and develop training program around that information.Tack effectiveness of training thru weekly evaluation form. Certify each associate has completed training and are fully qualified and periodically validate.

Challenges: Demonstrate leadership and strong people interactions skills and practices. Support associates while not removing responsibilities. Continue to mentor associates who show potential.

Key Technical Skills:

nn

An understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and how they affect all aspects of the operation is a plus. Proficient knowledge of planning preventative maintenance and work orders. Gaining basic knowledge/theory of how the major pieces of equipment work and being able to perform Root Cause Analysis.

Knowing how the equipment is supposed to run will improve line efficiencies in the end. Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvements monthly.

Develop plant operations knowledge of the main support systems needed to run an effective plant. Know the major pieces of support equipment that are essential to running the plant and the impact of problems with these systems. Develop a checklist to verify all are in proper working order and if not, report and follow-up as needed.

Key Team Skills:

Direct and Mentor 3 Maintenance Team Captains and 16 hourly associates. Other than Maintenance Technicians, the supervisor will interact with lab techs, machine operators, forklift operators, other supervisors and managers, production schedulers. Projects will include capital improvements on production lines and support systems, new product runs, packaging or container changes to existing products, consumer complaint issues, accident investigations, and line issues.

Run meetings with associates at the end of a shift (debrief) and at the beginning of the next shift (brief) communicating information from the previous shift such as things to be on the lookout for and any particulars pertaining to product runs. Review use to tools required to be used in the course of their jobs such as line check sheets, downtime sheets, checklists for changeovers,CC+I,MP2,Word,Excel,Power Point, etc.

Attend daily inner departmental meetings to discuss status of the day and upcoming needs on the shift. Line performance issue will be communicated in this meeting and the impact on the production schedule going forward. Notes of these meetings should be forwarded to the oncoming supervisor at shift change. Will also attend safety meetings and lead process improvement teams to generate ideas to improve efficiencies on the lines or any topic so designated.

Benchmarking the Best Supervisor:

They plan and organize their work each day rather than “wing it”. A specific plan is generated after production schedule is reviewed. Checking on first runs, new products, changes in raw materials as they run, following up on problem areas from a shift or day before, monitoring any changeover process, verifying all support departments are on current track and goal for the day, being creative in completing PM’s and Work Orders. Visible on the production floor, interacting with operators and other departments to improve the process or just build relations.

You will know and understand the goals; lead associates to execute the goals. Positively motivate and develop associates to meet their goals. Regularly monitor all line checks, cleaning of maintenance areas, reporting of line performance on communication boards, downtime issue recordings, GMP and SQF expectations, etc. You will effectively address noncompliance issues and safety issues in a timely manner.

You will solve problems using sound tools and lead associates to find solutions. Trial and error is documented to use in future to resolve performance issues. Communication with Maintenance Techs and Machine operators to determine issues, effects of any attempted corrections. Include all associates who could impact the process being reviewed to find the most effective solution. Schedule overtime and weekend labor, schedule project timelines for completion and read shop manuals and blueprints to order parts. Help with the management of Kitted parts and coordinated the completion of those said items.
