Warehouse Supervisor

The Shift Supervisor will control the day to day production/ packaging functions of his/her shift.  Responsible for monitoring and ensuring accurate reporting of standards, labor, materials, scrap, and line time are reported to Plant Manager on a daily basis. Proficient knowledge of computer technology including Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, and others deemed pertinent to the business. Shift Supervisor will work towards company goals by enforcing company procedures and policies related to labor regulations, OSHA Compliance, State, and local laws and ordinances relevant to the operation, staff and food safety. Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in operating a variety of packaging lines, extruders, ovens, and mixers to manufacture quality cereals and snack food products by performing the following duties.

nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes production schedules on a daily basis to estimate labor allocation to meet both internal and external needs for optimal production.
  • nt

  • Confirms amounts of raw materials (Bulk and Pre-staged) and packaging supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and work order Qty, using any work in process (WIP) that can be utilized for material optimization. Communicates with the warehouse team on how many batches were sent.

  • Interprets any change in product specifications or packaging, and assigns duties accordingly. Notify Quality Manager of new specs. Using the lean manufacturing Philosophy.

  • Interfaces with others in the organization such as other production supervisors, scheduler, warehouse, and plant management to ensure customer deadlines are met and resources are optimized.

  • Inspects and measures efficiency of all facets of production, and packaging to verify conformance to standards; thus, seeking out inefficiencies and correcting them immediately for optimal shift performance. And compares their current run speeds, packaging scrap, and labor to make sure it is in accordance with the playbook and the outlined target scrap

  • Directs employees in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards. And ensures no adjustments are made without supervision and approval of the supervisors

  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules by reassigning or releasing employees based on the demands of the job.

  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • nt

  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • nt

  • Analyzes and resolves work issues, or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • nt

  • Maintains time and production records to meet standard payroll and time management operating procedures to ensure the accurate recording and payment of employee wages in collaboration with ensuring that attendance records are maintained in adherence to company attendance policy.

  • Ensure all products are run at expected speeds and maintain consistency throughout the plant. Responsible for validating system generated parameters, and providing feedback

  • Double check all raw materials before a run starts, confirm raw materials and packaging products are staged and ready for the production
  • nt

  • Assures that all employees are following all Good Manufacturing Practices and Procedures at all times.

  • Displays diligence and initiative to safety by reporting all accidents and near misses to the safety coordinator on a timely basis. Encourages employee involvement by delegating accountability for safety procedures in the plant.

  • Leads all Pre shift meetings to discuss schedule for the day and any safety training that is needed
  • nt

  • Document all training on each employee making sure they know what their job task consists of.
  • nt

  • Attends Weekly Operation meetings
  • nt

  • Meets with Plant Manager daily to go over the needs and schedule for the day.
  • nt

  • Works with Production leads and packaging leads to ensure efficiency is met and standards are produced.
  • nt

  • Monitors each clean between products and reports back to Plant Manager

nSupervisory Responsibilities – Directly supervises 30 to 50 employees in the production facility and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Participates in company activities to support and display unity throughout the organization.

nEducation and/or Experience                                                 nn

  • 3-4 years’ experience working in a warehouse
  • nt

  • BS Degree in logistics, supply chain management or business administration
  • nt

  • High School Diploma or equivalent-required
  • nt

  • Knowledge of food industry
  • nt

  • Proficient knowledge in inventory management
  • nt

  • Outstanding leadership, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • nt

  • Must be computer literate, Excel, Word, Google docs and Google meet
  • nt

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • nt

  • Bilingual is preferred, Spanish and English but not required
