nSUMMARY: This is a working foreman position in the Milling Department in Ogden plant; people in this position are required to have knowledge of all jobs in the department. Experience in those jobs is preferred. - Carry out the duties of the Assistant Chief as spelled out in the Emergency Action Plan, including the evacuation of and accounting for personnel in case of an emergency.
- Routinely observe and make decisions to ensure the preservation of the physical facility, including all utilities, pumps, compressors, boilers, roofs, etc.
- Operate and direct the operation of all equipment in the department to ensure the production of specified products in a clean, wholesome, condition including; start up & shut down, running adjustments, malfunction correction, performance evaluation, routine maintenance, and lubrication.
- Assume responsibility for the Milling Department, including selecting and preparing the grain for milling, manufacturing the proper products on grade, including binning the products as specified in compliance with safety and plant rules, quality and Good Manufacturing Practices. Conduct routine maintenance on the department equipment as scheduled, and maintain the area in a clean, sanitary condition.
- Direct the activities of three other Milling Department personnel on the shift.

HOURS OF WORK: Work rotating shifts, with or without direct supervision up to twelve hours per day and up to seven days per week for weeks at a time.

- MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ETC: Use measuring tapes, scale tallies, ammeters, pressure gauges, and other process monitoring and indicating devices. Use common hand and power tools. Operate and be familiar with common electric and electronic devices.
- SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge, but not necessarily physical ability, to perform all other jobs in the Milling Department.
- GENERAL EDUCATION, REASONING: Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of complex instructions.
- GENERAL EDUCATION, MATHEMATICS: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure; to perform the four operations with like or common decimal fractions; to compute ratio, rate, and percent; to perform arithmetic operations involving all American milling units of measure.
- GENERAL EDUCATION, LANGUAGE: Use a passive vocabulary of 5-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; to write compound and complex sentences, using proper end punctuation, and employing adverbs and adjectives. Communicate in complex sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses<span style="color:#525250">; using good vocabulary.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS, TYPE: Ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, stairs, etc., with agility. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious places. Lower the body to floor level and move about with agility. Extend out and retrieve objects outside immediate range. Support oneself and stay in upright position. Press against something with substantial steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward. Execute a considerable force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Raise substantial objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position. Maneuver small objects precisely by whatever means. - PHYSICAL DEMANDS, DEGREE: Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force regularly to move objects.
- VISUAL DEMANDS: Use visual acuity of machine operators with inspection , dealing with small defects in grain and mill stocks being held in the hand.
- PHYSICAL SURROUNDINGS: Enter into and work inside filters, bins, hoppers, rooms, pits, and other confined spaces as needed. Be subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from the weather but not necessarily from temperature changes. Be subject to sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level: Wearing of hearing protection a frequent requirement. Subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or the whole body. Be subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, or gases.
