OPTICS PLANT IN OLDSMAR FLORIDA NEEDS A DAY SHIFT MAINTENANCE MECHANIC. SHIFT IS 7AM -3:30PM M-F WITH SOME SATURDAYS WHEN NEEDED. MUST HAVE A STRONG MANUFACTURING BACKGROUND AND THE PAY RANGE IS 22-25HR ON DAY SHIFT. 

The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, ensuring full functionality of equipment while minimizing down time. Assures that the utility systems are fully operational and inspected in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules and state/federal laws. Works with staff in identifying maintenance concerns and systems upkeep.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and install manufacturing equipment including high voltage electronic instrumentation
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance program using company designated PM software
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot repairs in a timely manner
  • Ensure air, water and chiller units are fully functional
  • Design and build custom components for coating machines
  • Obtains cost estimates, prepares reports, and makes recommendations concerning procurement of outside contractors for specific projects
  • Keeps Operations Manager fully informed on all issues in a timely manner
  • Participate in 6S activities which include but are not limited to cleaning, organizing, sweeping, and mopping work area
  • Assists with the scheduling, maintenance, and monitoring of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water, electric, and other systems to ensure efficient operation of these systems
  • Coordinates construction, remodeling, and repair jobs
  • Oversees contractors performing maintenance activities
  • Inspects all projects for conformance
  • Assist with monitoring building security, alarm system and respond to alarm calls
  • Analyzes project costs and prepares budgets
  • Complete written record of work performed
  • Act as a liaison with local law enforcement and fire marshals
  • May be required to use a ladder
  • May be required to use shop and power tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read electrical circuit diagrams, blueprints, schematics and drawings
  • Demonstrated electro-mechanical knowledge and skills
  • Ability to think critically
  • Basic computer, reading, writing and math skills
  • Ability to make, contract, and create expense estimates for building repairs
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment

 

Education/Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent; minimum five (5) years vacuum coating equipment maintenance experience.

 

Physical Requirements:

Adequate manual dexterity to perform essential functions; ability to use some physical efforts in the handling of heavy materials and machinery (most tasks require no more than 50 lbs. lifting); position requires about 80% standing; ability to work in manufacturing environment.
